A LARGE FRENCH BRONZE FIGURAL GROUP ”THE SKATERS” BY CHARLES GEORGES FERVILLE-SUAN, 19TH CENTURY - A large French patinated bronze figural group by Charles Georges Ferville-Suan (1847-1925), depicting an elegant winter scene with a young man on ice skates pushing a richly dressed woman seated in an elaborately ornamented sleigh. Finely modeled with particular attention to the figures' costumes, facial features, flowing drapery and the scrolling decoration of the sleigh. Mounted on a stepped white and green marble base. Signed in the bronze ”Ferville Suan.” Ferville-Suan studied at the École des Beaux-Arts under François Jouffroy and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1872 to 1909. Dimensions: 19 x 24 in. (48.3 x 61 cm) Condition: Good antique condition with expected surface wear and variations to the patina. Small chip to the marble base. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
