AN ITALIAN BRONZE PORTRAIT BUST BY EDUARDO ROSSI, NAPLES, EARLY 20TH CENTURY - A large Italian patinated bronze portrait bust by Eduardo Rossi (Italian, 1867-1926), depicting a distinguished mustachioed gentleman in formal dress, wearing a double-breasted coat, waistcoat and cravat, with a small lapel pin. Modeled in a vigorous naturalistic manner with finely articulated facial features and textured surfaces to the clothing and hair. Mounted on a later oval wooden base. Signed and inscribed ”E. Rossi Napoli” to the reverse. Eduardo Rossi was born in Naples in 1867 and studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti under the noted realist sculptor Achille d'Orsi. He exhibited at the Venice International Art Exhibition in 1895 and subsequently at major Italian exhibitions, receiving a bronze medal for sculpture at the Brussels International Exhibition of 1910.
