A LARGE INDIAN BRONZE FIGURE OF THE SNAKE GODDESS MANASA - An Indian cast-bronze figure of Manasa, the Hindu goddess of snakes, 19th century. The goddess is seated cross-legged on a lotus throne, richly adorned with jewelry and an elaborate headdress, holding a large coiled serpent in her left hand. A flaming aureole rises behind her head and is surmounted by a ceremonial parasol. Raised on a stepped rectangular plinth. The bronze retains a warm brown patina with areas of green oxidation. Dimensions: H: 14 3/4 in., (37.5 cm.) Condition: Very good. General light surface wear and aging. Some green oxidation areas. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
