A LARGE TIBETAN GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF A FOUR-ARMED BODHISATTVA - A large gilt-bronze Buddhist figure depicting a four-armed bodhisattva seated in dhyanasana. The iconography is suggestive of Shadakshari Avalokiteshvara, the four-armed form of the Bodhisattva of Compassion. The deity is richly adorned with jewelry and an elaborate foliate crown inset with turquoise and red-colored stones. The serene face is framed by elongated earrings and a high chignon surmounted by a finial. The figure is mounted on a substantial separately cast copper-alloy double-lotus pedestal. Tibetan or Himalayan, probably 19th century or earlier. Dimensions: H: 10 1/2 in, (27 cm.) Condition: Very good. Missing few gems. General minor surface wear.
