A TIBETAN OR HIMALAYAN BRONZE FIGURE OF SEATED TARA, 19TH CENTURY - A bronze figure depicting Tara seated in a relaxed cross-legged posture, her head gently inclined and her hands raised before the chest in a graceful ritual gesture. The serene face with downcast eyes and subtle smile is framed by an elaborate foliate crown and coiffure surmounted by a high chignon. She is adorned with necklaces, armlets and other jewelry, several settings inset with small coral-colored and turquoise-colored cabochons. The figure wears a closely fitted dhoti with incised borders and ornamental details. Mounted on a later shaped wooden base. Dimensions: H: 8 1/2 in., (21.5 cm.)
