A VICTORIAN GILT-SILVER-MOUNTED DECANTER, WITH TRADE HALLMARKS BY GEORGE FOX, LONDON, 1872 - A Victorian gilt-silver-mounted decanter, with trade hallmarks by George Fox, London, 1872 letter ”r”. Several Hallmarks on the upper silver rim at the neck as wells as the bottom of the foot. Drop vase form, the silver mounts with Egyptian sphinx heads and grotesque masks close mouths holding dangling rings. Geometric floral design etched on the glass body. Acanthus leaves ornamenting the upper metal mounts at the start of the neck as well as all around the stopper. Dimensions: H: 13 1/4 in., (34 cm.) Condition: Very good. Some small areas of white powdery corrosion on the silver mouth rim. One bottle has a damaged glass, cracks but not completely broken. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
