A LARGE GILT-DECORATED OPALINE GLASS COVERED URN, 19TH CENTURY - A large Continental European opaline glass covered urn of architectural form, the faceted ovoid body raised on a tall molded and faceted stem terminating in a scalloped circular foot. The body decorated with gilt scrolling foliate ornament, with gilt linear and geometric accents throughout. The conforming domed cover is surmounted by a molded acorn-form finial. Probably mid-19th century. Provenance: a private French-based collection with an attribution of the urn as Russian Imeprail Glass, 19th century. Dimensions: H: 13 in., (33 cm.) Condition: Overall good condition. Light rubbing and losses to the gilt decoration throughout consistent with age and use. No major chips or cracks visible in the photographs.
