A LARGE NEOCLASSICAL SILVERED-BRONZE VASE, 19TH CENTURY - A large and elaborately cast silvered-bronze ornamental vase of Neoclassical design, the ovoid body raised on a circular spreading foot and richly decorated with classical motifs. The body is vertically fluted and centered on opposing sides by applied Medusa masks, surrounded by scrolling floral and foliate ornament. The lower body is modeled with overlapping acanthus leaves, while the shoulder and neck are similarly enriched with bands of acanthus and classical scrollwork. The sides are mounted with elaborate architectural handles incorporating ram's heads, pendant acanthus leaves, rosettes, and scrolling supports terminating at the shoulder. The circular mouth is bordered by a continuous wave pattern. Apparently unmarked. Dimensions: H: 21 1/2 in., (54.6 cm.) Condition: Very good overall with a nice patina throughout.
