A PAIR OF QAJAR PERSIAN SILVER-INLAID BRASS VASES, 19TH CENTURY - A pair of Persian brass vases of baluster form, each with a broad rounded shoulder and flaring cylindrical neck, extensively engraved and inlaid in silver and copper. The bodies are arranged in horizontal registers of dense arabesque, floral, and geometric ornament, incorporating large calligraphic cartouches in Arabic script and smaller figural, animal and floral motifs. The contrasting silver and copper inlay creates a richly variegated surface against the dark patinated brass ground. Dimensions: H: 10 1/4 in., (26 cm.)
