A CHINESE GILT-BRONZE OPENWORK BUDDHIST STUPA, QING DYNASTY, 18TH-19TH CENTURY. - Of tiered bell-shaped form, extensively cast in openwork with pairs of sinuous dragons amid scrolling clouds and floral motifs, the upper registers decorated with lotus blossoms and foliage. Surmounted by a lotus-form finial and raised on an oval base engraved with a geometric key pattern. The hollow interior retains the central mounting structure, indicating that the stupa may originally have enclosed or supported a sacred image or reliquary element. Dimensions: H: 4 1/4 in., (10.8 cm.) Condition: Very good. Surface wear. Miss shaped noticeable around the lower rim. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
