A MEISSEN PORCELAIN AND GILT-METAL MOUNTED TRINKET BOX, 1815-1860 - A German Meissen porcelain trinket box of lobed, shaped form, dating to the first half of the 19th century. The white porcelain body and hinged cover are finely hand-painted in polychrome enamels with scattered and clustered floral bouquets, including roses and forget-me-nots, heightened throughout with elaborate gilt rocaille scrollwork. The domed cover is enclosed within a gilt-metal mount with a hinged closure and thumbpiece. The underside bears an underglaze-blue Meissen factory marking. The interior retains an old fitted textile lining. Dimensions: 2 x 3 3/4 x 3 1/2 in., (5 x 9.5 x 9 cm.) Condition: Very good. Minor surface wear. Some lost gilt on edges.
