A CHANTILLY PORCELAIN ELEPHANT-FORM PERFUME BURNER, 18TH CENTURY - A French Chantilly soft-paste porcelain elephant-form perfume burner, 18th century, modeled as a standing white elephant with its trunk lowered, the saddle cloth painted in the Kakiemon taste with Oriental figures, flowering branches and iron-red borders. Fitted with a gilt-bronze foliate base and gilt-bronze mount at the back supporting a porcelain finial. Bearing an iron-red hunting-horn mark associated with the Chantilly manufactory. Dimensions: H: 6 1/4 in., (15.9 cm.) Condition: Age-related wear, rubbing and losses to decoration and gilding. Porcelain and mounts with minor surface wear. Please refer to photographs.
