A RUSSIAN BRONZE GROUP BY GRACHEV, 1877 - ”Cossack Hunter with Two Greyhounds” Cast by C.F. Woerffel after a model by Vasili Grachev (1831-1905), late 19th century. On a naturalistic oval base, realistically cast as a hunter on horseback smoking a pipe, with two greyhounds. Signed on the base in Cyrillic ”LEP. GRACHEV”, also with the foundry mark ”FABR. C.F. WOERFFEL ST. PETERSBURG”, and bearing a Finance Ministry stamp dated 1877. Dimensions: H: 15 3/8 in., (38.5 cm.)
