A RUSSIAN SILVER AND ENAMEL BASKET BY KHLEBNIKOV, MOSCOW, 1885 - Ivan Khlebnikov, Moscow, 1885. Of oval form, raised on a spreading oval foot, the body is finely decorated with brightly colored, shaded champleve enamels in red, white, blue, and black on a gilt ground, forming alternating floral and geometric panels within arched reserves, bordered by a beaded rim and Greek key pattern. The hinged, arched handle is plain with circular terminals. Hallmarks: ”KHLEBNIKOV” in Cyrillic next to the Imperial Warrant, 88 Russian silver standard. Weight: 29 o., 822 g. Moscow, 1885. Dimensions: H: 7 1/2 in., (19 cm.), L: 8 3/4 in., (22 cm.) Conditions: Good condition, enamel and gilding on the outside are well preserved, gilding on the inside is somewhat rubbed.
