A MAGNIFICENT RUSSIAN TWO-PIECE GILT-SILVER ENAMEL SET, MOSCOW, 1908-17 - 6th Artel, Moscow, 1908-1917. Each piece of traditional form: the cream jug with a coiled serpent handle and flared spout, the sugar basket of lobed circular form with a hinged upright handle enamelled with floral motifs. The bodies are decorated throughout in finely worked shaded cloisonné enamel with stylized foliage, blossoms, and scrollwork in tones of cobalt blue, lavender, pistachio green, and rose pink. The overall design is divided into arcaded panels, each intricately detailed with alternating floral themes, suggesting Neo-Russian revival style. The rims are bordered with geometric and bead motifs, and the handle of the basket is similarly enameled with floral decoration on black and claret ground. Hallmarks: Kokoshnik, Russian 84 Silver standard, ”6MA” Weight: 17.4 o., 492 g. Dimensions: Creamer H: 3 3/8 in., (8.7 cm.), sugar bowl D: 4 5/8 in., (12 cm.)
