A RUSSIAN SILVER AND ENAMEL PLAYING-CARD CASE, GRACHEV BROTHERS, ST. PETERSBURG, 1908–1917 - Of rectangular form with a hinged cover, the front applied with a fan of five playing cards finely painted in polychrome enamel. Above is a raised rectangular plaque engraved with an intertwined monogram. The gilt interior fitted with a hinged retaining bar and containing a later deck of playing cards. Marked with the Grachev Brothers name beneath the Imperial double-headed eagle, the 84 silver standard and the Kokoshnik mark. Weight: 7.3 oz., 208 g. Dimensions: 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 in., (9.7 x 6.2 cm.)
