A RUSSIAN GILT-SILVER CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL CIGARETTE CASE, 1899-1908 - Moscow, 1899–1908. Of rectangular form with rounded corners and a hinged lid, the exterior is richly decorated in polychrome shaded cloisonné enamel over a stippled gilt ground. The design features scrolling foliate motifs in translucent blues, greens, and reds, interspersed with opaque white and pale blue blossoms, all framed within a geometric cartouche. The borders are set with bands of turquoise enameled pellets. Gilded interior. Hallmarks: indistinct maker's mark, 84 Russian silver standard. Weight: 5.9 o., 170 g.
