A RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER PRESENTATION CUP BY HLEBNIKOV, MOSCOW, 1896 - Of cylindrical form, the vertically fluted body centered by a broad band finely chased with scrolling acanthus foliage against a matted ground and bordered by crossed laurel wreaths. The front is applied with an elaborate trophy-form cartouche featuring allegorical female figures, laurel branches, scrollwork, and military attributes, centered by an applied gold interlaced monogram. The spreading circular foot is repoussé and chased with acanthus leaves. The large foliate scroll handle terminates in the head of a roaring feline. The interior is fully gilt. Hallmarks: Maker's mark ”ХЛЕБНИКОВЪ” in Cyrillic beneath the Imperial warrant; assay master's mark ”А.А” for Anatoly Artsybashev, Moscow, 1896, 84 zolotnik silver standard, Moscow city mark. Weight: 13.6 oz., 390 g. Dimensions: H: 5 in., (13 cm.) Conditions: Minor surface wear, tarnishing, and rubbing to the gilding consistent with age. Overall in good condition.
