A RUSSIAN SILVER AND CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL CHOCOLATE CUP BY GRACHEV BROTHERS - Russia, St. Petersburg, 1898. Of cylindrical form on a spreading circular foot, with a high angular scroll handle. The body is decorated with scrolling foliage, flowerheads and geometric borders in blue, turquoise, green, white, red and brown cloisonné enamel against a stippled ground. One side is adorned with a circular medallion engraved with an intertwined monogram. The lower band is engraved ”Schloss Bergheim 15/27 September 98.” The double date corresponds to the Julian and Gregorian calendars. Hallmarks: ”БР. ГРАЧЕВЫ” in Cyrillic beneath the Imperial warrant and ”88” silver standard. Weight: 6.3 o., 180 g. Dimensions: H: 2 5/8 in., (6.7 cm.) Conditions: Very good, with two tiny dents toward the base.
