A RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT AND CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL FOOTED BOWL, MARK OF NIKOLAY ALEXEYEV, MOSCOW, CIRCA 1900 - Of compressed circular form with a shaped quatrefoil rim, raised on a spreading circular foot. The exterior is finely decorated in shaded polychrome cloisonné enamel with stylized flowers, palmettes, and scrolling foliage in turquoise, cobalt blue, violet, white, red, and salmon tones against a dark stippled ground. The rim is bordered by turquoise enamel beads and twisted silver wire. The foot is decorated with a band of alternating geometric motifs and turquoise bead borders. The interior and underside are gilt. Struck beneath with the Cyrillic maker’s mark ”Н.А.” for Nikolay Alexeyev and the 88 silver standard. Weight: 3.5 oz., 98 g. Dimensions: D: 3 1/2 in., (9 cm.)
