A RUSSIAN GILT-SILVER AND NIELLO SPOON, 1891 - A Russian silver spoon with a round, deep bowl. The back of the bowl is finely decorated in the niello technique, depicting a detailed architectural view of a Russian Orthodox cathedral with multiple onion domes framed by a geometric border. Beneath the architectural view is an ornate scrolling foliate design. The interior of the bowl is fully gilded. The handle has a spiral-twist design with polished and gilded segments, topped with a ball finial. Hallmarks: Cyrillic letters ”S.K.R”, ”A.A”, 1891, 84 silver proof, St George Moscow mark. Weight: 1.8 oz., 50 g. Dimensions: L: 6 3/4 in., (16.5 cm.) Conditions: Excellent, with niello very well preserved. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
