A RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT AND NIELLO SPOON, MOSCOW, 1895 - The circular bowl is decorated in niello with a detailed view of the Cathedral of Saint Basil the Blessed, Moscow, enclosed by an engraved border and issuing from stylized foliage. The tapering handle partly spiral-fluted and terminating in a ribbed baluster finial. The bowl interior gilt. Marked on the stem with the apparently worn Cyrillic maker’s mark ”VS”, assay master’s mark ”IK/1895,” Moscow city mark of Saint George, and ”84” zolotnik silver standard. Weight: 2.8 oz., 80 g.
