A RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER BEAKER, NIKOLAS PLINKE (NICHOLS & PLINKE), ST PETERSBURG, 1861 - Of tapering cylindrical form with a gently flared rim, the interior is richly gilded. The exterior is finely engraved with a continuous band of bold interlaced strapwork and palmette motifs, the recessed grounds filled with close linear hatching. Engraved above the decoration is the presentation date ”17 Нояб. 1879” (”17 November 1897”). The underside is struck with the N.P. mark beneath the Imperial eagle for Nikolas Plinke, the St Petersburg assay mark dated 1861, and 84 for the Russian 84-zolotnik silver standard.
