AN IMPERIAL RUSSIAN CUT-GLASS HANDLED CUP FROM A BANQUET SERVICE IMPERIAL GLASS FACTORY, ST PETERSBURG, CIRCA 1850S - A faceted, heavy, colorless crystal cup with a slightly tapering body, an applied angular loop handle, and a scalloped foot cut underneath with a radiating star. The front centers an enamel-painted gold-foil inclusion depicting a crowned Imperial cypher against an ermine mantle, enriched in red, black, white, and gold. Apparently unmarked. The cypher is associated with Emperor Alexander II, and the form corresponds closely to mid-19th-century tea or punch cups from the Imperial Banquet Service. Dimensions: H: 2 7/8 in., (7.3 cm.)
