A LARGE RUSSIAN PORCELAIN BOWL FROM THE BABIGON SERVICE BY THE IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY, ST. PETERSBURG, PERIOD OF NICHOLAS I, CIRCA 1840 - Of circular form with a deep rounded body raised on a spreading gilt foot. The interior is centered by a gilt rosette and bordered by a band of gilt flowering vines on a pale grey ground between gilt geometric ornament and narrow russet bands. The exterior is decorated with gilt foliate and pendant borders. Marked beneath with the blue underglaze Imperial cypher Н I for Nicholas I. Dimensions: D: 12 1/4 in., (31.1 cm.)
