AN IMPERIAL RUSSIAN PORCELAIN MFG ROPSHA SERVICE DINNER PLATE, AII - Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, St. Petersburg, period of Alexander II, 1855-1881. The center decorated with the gilt Imperial double-headed eagle, the border painted in pale blue and richly gilt with a continuous pattern of stylized palmettes, lotus flowers and interlaced scrolls, enclosed by gilt bands and dotted borders. Marked beneath with the green underglaze Imperial cypher of Alexander II. The Ropsha Service, also known as the Ministerial Service, was produced for use at the Imperial residence at Ropsha and was supplemented during successive reigns. Dimensions: D: 9 3/4 in., (24.8 cm.)
