A GROUP OF EIGHT SOVIET PORCELAIN FIGURINES BASED ON NIKOLAI GOGOL’S NOVEL DEAD SOULS AND COMEDY THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR - A collection of eight hand-painted Soviet porcelain figurines inspired by characters from Nikolai Gogol’s novel Dead Souls and the comedy The Government Inspector. Produced by the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory in Leningrad during the 1950s after models by Boris Vorobiev (1911–1990), the group includes Chichikov, Sobakevich, Nozdrev, Korobochka and the Manilovs, as well as Khlestakov, Gorodnichii, Bobchinskii and Dobchinskii. Each bears a blue factory mark and a painted model number on the verso. Dimensions: H: 6 1/2 in., (16.5 cm.) Conditions: Very good overall with no chips or cracks.
