A RUSSIAN KUZNETSOV POLYCHROME AND GILT FAIENCE HOUSE-FORM COVERED TOBACCO BOX - Late 19th/early 20th century. Modelled as a rustic cottage with a removable thatched roof forming the cover, the walls detailed with masonry, timber boarding, windows and a chimney. The front with a raised porch and bench, surrounded by steps, logs, rocks and climbing foliage, all painted in brown, green, cream, blue and black enamels and extensively enriched with gilding. Raised on an irregular grassy base. The underside with a faint impressed M.S. Kuznetsov factory mark and incised model numerals, apparently ”1541” and ”98.” Dimensions: H: 7 3/4 in., (19.7 cm.)
