A RUSSIAN PORCELAIN FIGURE OF A WRITING NOBLE ATTRIBUTED TO MIKLASHEVSKIY FACTORY - Attributed to the A.M. Miklashevsky Porcelain Factory, Volokitino, Chernigov Province, circa 1840-1860, after the Meissen model by Johann Joachim Kändler. Modelled as an 18th-century nobleman seated at an elaborate Rococo writing table, leaning forward to compose a letter with a quill. He wears a powdered wig tied with a black-and-white ribbon, a turquoise-blue frock coat with gilt trim and buttons, a buff waistcoat and breeches, white stockings and black shoes. The faux-marble tabletop is set with two inkwells, a writing implement and a pocket watch suspended from a pink ribbon, above cabriole supports enriched with moulded scrollwork and gilding. Raised on an irregular naturalistic base applied with flowers and foliage. Dimensions: H: 5 7/8 in., (14.9 cm.) Conditions: Small section of loss to ribbon at corner of table. Old repair to a chip on the lower back of the coat. A couple of small chips to some leaves under the table. Top half of quill chipped off. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
