A RUSSIAN GARDENER PORCELAIN FIGURAL GROUP OF TWO PEASANT MEN, 19TH CENTURY - A Russian porcelain grouping entitled ”Newly Arrived Peasants”, produced by the Gardner Porcelain Factory circa 1870-1900. The piece depicts two peasant men in traditional attire standing atop a base modeled to appear as a city street. The pair are modeled after an illustration by Mikhail Bashilov (M. Pikkolo, pseudonym) for A.P. Golitsynskii’s Street Types (Ulichnye tipy, Moscow, 1860). The underside is marked with the red Gardner mark and the impressed Gardner mark.
