AN ORDER OF THE CROWN OF KING ZVONIMIR, COMMANDER GRADE NECK BADGE, INDEPENDENT STATE OF CROATIA (NDH), 1941–1945 - Constructed of gilt and enameled metal in the form of a six-pointed white enamel cross with bifurcated arms, the obverse centered by a circular medallion bearing the Crown of King Zvonimir, surrounded by a green enameled laurel wreath. The reverse is inscribed ”1076” above ”BOG I HRVATI” (”God and Croats”) and dated ”1941,” commemorating the establishment of the Independent State of Croatia and referencing the coronation year of King Demetrius Zvonimir. Suspended from its original neck ribbon of red with white edge stripes and fitted with suspension hooks. Instituted in 1941, the Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir was among the principal decorations of the Independent State of Croatia (Nezavisna Država Hrvatska, NDH) and was awarded for civil and military merit. Dimensions: H: 2 3/4 in., (7 cm.); W: 2 in., (5 cm.) Conditions: The enamel surfaces remain well preserved with minor wear and scattered losses to the green enamel wreath. The gilt finish exhibits expected age-related light. The original neck ribbon is present and complete, showing fraying, soiling, and wear from age and use. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
