A PERSIAN COPPER EWER, QAJAR PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY - Of elegant pear-shaped form raised on a short circular foot, the body is faceted into lobed panels and finely decorated with engraved floral sprays, each reserve bordered by dotted punchwork. The surface displays alternating areas of warm copper and pale silvered or tinned finish, creating a subtle polychrome effect characteristic of Persian metalwork of the Qajar period. The elongated neck rises to a flared mouth with a serrated rim, fitted with a hinged domed cover surmounted by a small knop finial. The long, gracefully curved spout terminates in a pointed lip and is joined to the body with a reinforced seam, while the opposite side is fitted with a slender strap handle, the thumbpiece integrated into the hinge mechanism of the lid. The overall silhouette reflects traditional Islamic ewer forms, combining functional design with refined decorative detailing. The engraved ornament is restrained yet elegant, emphasizing the rhythmic articulation of the faceted body. The underside retains later collection and exhibition labels, including a printed inventory number and a ”Bezalel Jerusalem” label in Hebrew and English, indicating the piece passed through the Bezalel School or workshop context in the early 20th century, likely as part of a collection or resale rather than original manufacture.
