A MIXED MEDIA ON PAPER PORTRAIT, ”THE SAD SEMITE”, EDUARDO EXPÓSITO (CUBAN, ACTIVE LATE 20TH–EARLY 21ST CENTURY) - Eduardo Expósito (Cuban, active late 20th–early 21st century) Dated 2001. Mixed media on paper, depicting a stylized frontal female figure with elongated facial features and expressive, oversized eyes, the head supported by both hands in a pose of introspection or melancholy. The composition combines charcoal or ink drawing with textured, collage-like passages in red, ochre, and yellow, particularly in the hat and dress, set against a deep black ground. The surface exhibits deliberate materiality, with visible fibers, cracking, and layered media consistent with contemporary Cuban mixed-media practice, emphasizing emotional and psychological states. Signed ”E. Expósito” along the left edge.
