A FRENCH SWING-OUT CASE WITH HAND-COLORED ENGRAVING AND KEY, CA 1810 - This French lockbox is of a swing-out design, possibly used as a travel box. The swivel drawers allow the box to be opened to a workstation and closed for easy travel. On the underside of the lid is a hand-colored engraving depicting the image of a French woman within a wreathed border with the text ”Sous l'Empire” (Under the Empire) and the date 1810 under the image. In case we can not accommodate a shipping request, a list of additional shippers will be provided. Dimensions: 6 1/2 x 6 3/16 x 6 3/4 in., (16.5 x 15.7 x 17.1 cm.) Condition: Good overall. The wood has warped and faded due to age, with some chipping. Some metal pieces are bent. The key function though the piece to lock into is missing. Signs of adhesive on the drawers from possible restoration.
