A SADANAND K. BAKRE SIGNED MODERN INDIAN LIMITED EDITION ETCHING ON PAPER ATTR - Attributed to Sadanand K. Bakre (Indian, 1920 - 2007), a color etching on paper depicting an abstract composition. Signed 'S.K BAKRE', numbered 7/10 and signed in Devanagari along the green mat. Noete: Sadanand K. Bakre was a pioneer of Indian modern art. He was one of the founding members of the Progressive Artists’ Group (PAG) and began exploring modernism through the sculpted form. In 1951, he moved to London with fellow Progressive artist Francis Newton Souza and concentrated solely on painting, honing his understanding of line, form, and color. He received a lifetime achievement award from the Bombay Art Society in 2004. Provenance: according to the late collector and owner's son, the artwork is a part of the owner's late father's inheritance (Mirza Sami Baig Born, born: July 1, 1949, Hyd, India, passed away in India in 2013), which includes over 2500 artworks from India.
