NIKOLAI PETROVICH AKIMOV (1901–1968), COSTUME DESIGN FOR THE CHARACTER ”VORA”, 1953 - A spirited theatrical costume sketch depicting the character “Vora” in a striped undershirt and trousers, with tattoos indicated on the torso, and the formal jacket sketched to the right. Executed for the production at the Leningrad Comedy Theater in 1953, for actor A.D. Benyaminov (1904–1991). Akimov, an influential stage director, painter, and graphic artist, is well known for his inventive and often witty approach to character and costume design.
