It depicts the moment when an infant angel approaches the fallen saint and retrieves the arrows that killed him. This dramatic scene is built on the powerful figure of the saint illuminated by a beam of light, snatching him from the darkness of the background and attracting the viewer's attention, which is characteristic of High Baroque art.
