A RUSSIAN ENGRAVED SILVER CHINOISERIE TEA CADDY, 1886 - A Russian silver tea caddy finely engraved throughout with scenes of Chinese life as it appeared in the European imagination. Each scene is bordered with pan-slavic style patterning. The piece is lidded with a squat, rounded cap with threads engraved with similar patterning to the body and with a belt for a family crest at the center, the lid covering a cork stopper with a ring and two metal plates. Imperial Russia, 1886. Hallmarks: Cyrillic 'AA' mark, 84 with kokoshnik, 'AP' assayer's mark with 1886 date, St George Moscow Mark, repeated marks across different elements of the caddy.
