Обзор товара
описание:
Of cylindrical form with a flat base and loop handle, the body meticulously hand-engraved and chased throughout to simulate an interwoven birch-bark basket pattern, the rim plain and polished, the interior retaining a soft, warm patina. The form and decoration exemplify the 19th-century Russian revivalist taste for domestic folk motifs reinterpreted in precious metalwork.
Hallmarks: maker’s mark "СГ" (Cyrillic, for an unidentified Moscow silversmith), 84 silver standard, assay mark "ИЕ" for Ivan Yevstafiev, Moscow, 1878, with town mark St. George slaying the dragon for Moscow.
Weight: 4.3 oz. (approx. 122 g.)
Note: Tea glass holders (podstakanniki) with simulated woven decoration were a celebrated form of Moscow silverwork in the late 19th century, reflecting both the artistry of local craftsmen and the growing fascination with traditional Russian forms under the influence of the Neo-Russian style.
