A BAVARIAN GERMAN MORION HELMET OF THE MUNICH CIVIL GUARD, CA. 16TH CENTURY - A morion helmet from late 16th century Germany, with a large repoussé fleur-de-lis on each side of the helmet, a variety of molded brass florets, and a small holder for attaching a plume of feathers. At first glance, one might assume this helmet to be French but this exact style, especially in black and silver color, was used by the Munich Civil Guard in the powerful Duchy of Bavaria. An almost identical example can be found in Figure 576 on page 455 of 'A Glossary of the Construction, Decoration and Use of Arms and Armor' by G. C. Stone. Munich, Duchy of Bavaria - 16th Century.
