BADGE OF THE ”FRIEND OF CHILDREN” SOCIETY, SUBSCRIPTION COLLECTION, USSR, 1920S. - A rare Soviet badge issued by the Society ”Friend of Children” (ODD), an organization dedicated to children’s welfare, education, and pioneer activities during the 1920s. The badge is formed as a five-pointed red star with a raised depiction of three children in the center, framed by a sickle motif. Below is a ribbon with the raised inscription ”Friend of Children” (Друг детей). Reverse with a plain back, fitted with a vertical pin and clasp. Period: 1920s. Origin: Unknown Soviet workshop. Material: Brass with painted details. Fastening: Vertical pinback. Dimensions: 25.47 × 21.59 mm. Weight: 4.3 g. Rarity: Rather rare (R). This badge represents the early Soviet movement to mobilize support for children’s institutions, with funds raised through ”subscription collections” (kruzhechny sbor).
