A 17TH CENTURY ITALIAN RAPIER WITH FINELY CHASED IRON GUARD - A 17th century Italian rapier with a finely chased and pierced iron hilt decorated with intricate foliate motifs to the guard, pommel, grip and the knobs on the knucklebow and quillon. The grip is also wrapped with braided copper wire, the top and bottom having fine Turk's head knots. The blade is long and pointed, with a raised midrib running down its entire length on both sides.
