A LARGE ISLAMIC CAUCASIAN (GEORGIAN) GOLD-ENLAID KINDJAL DAGGER, CA 1880 - Of a traditional form Georgian qama dagger, double-edged blade decorated with gold inlay on one side, with deep fullers on either side. The gold inlaid inscription on the blade is in Arabic script, commonly used in Islamic art and craftsmanship, especially in regions like the Caucasus. The hilt is constructed of two carved scales fastened by three rivets, decorated with gold inlay rosettes. Wood scabbard covered in stitched dark brown shagreen leather with a steel gold-inlaid fitting. Georgia, ca. 1880. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
