A RARE BARREL-SHAPED COPPER AND BRASS SAMOVAR, 19TH CENTURY - An unusual and rare horizontal samovar with a barrel-shaped copper body, mounted horizontally rather than vertically — a form known as a ”bochkoobrazny” (barrel-form) samovar. This type is less common than the vertical urn or vase-shaped variants. Constructed of copper, horizontally oriented with a cylindrical profile. Mounted on a quadrangular cast brass pallet with four pronounced angular legs — decorative and stable, designed to support the heavy horizontal structure. The base houses the air intake vent or ash dump beneath the heating chamber. Fitted with massive wrought or cast metal handles, welded directly to the body — both decorative and functional, likely original and in operational condition. Their form may reflect regional metalwork traditions (e.g., Tula or Samara). The water tap (kranik) is turned metal, with a scroll-like design, fully consistent with Russian samovars made between 1880 and 1910. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
