A HENDRIK SCHOLTER BRONZE GROUPING 'BLACKSMITH AND BUSINESSMAN', C. 1930S - A bronze grouping by the Dutch artist Hendrik Scholter, depicting a blacksmith with his hammer and anvil shaking the hand of a businessman or politician. This unusual pairing appears to show some sort of goodwill between the worker and the capitalist, which is intriguing as this sculpture was created in the midst of the great depression, a time when workers and capitalists were at severe odds.
