AN EARLY LARGE RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER BEAKER, 1797 - A Russian parcel-gilt silver hand-chased beaker of tapering form with a flared lip and stepped circular foot. The body is decorated with two large vertical figural reserves in high relief, each featuring a seated nude female figure in various allegorical poses. The figural medallions are set within a finely chased floral and foliate background, featuring detailed roses, tulips, and leaves. The silver body has a rich parcel-gilt surface, with gilded interior and floral sections. Hallmarks: ”A.Z.” maker's mark in Cyrillic, Saint Petersburg city mark, 85. Weight: 12.39 oz., 351 g.
