A MINIATURE RUSSIAN SILVER CUP BY SAZIKOV, 1860 - A RUSSIAN SILVER CHILD’S MUG, ST. PETERSBURG, 1860. Of tapering cylindrical form with a flat base and angular handle, the body finely engraved with scrolling geometric and foliate ornament in the Pan-Slavic style, with a central roundel engraved ”1860”. The handle is further inscribed in Cyrillic Sazikov. The surface enclosed within geometric borders of zigzag and line patterns. Hallmarks: SAZIKOV, St. Petersburg, 1860, assay master’s initials A.M, 84 silver zolotnik standard, anchor city mark of St. Petersburg, double-headed Imperial eagle for court supplier, and additional maker’s mark. This fine example of a Russian silver child’s mug demonstrates the high-quality workmanship of St. Petersburg silversmiths during the mid-19th century, with its clear presentation inscription and dedication, making it a piece both of personal and historical significance.
