A JAMINI PRAKASH GANGOOLY, INDIAN, OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING - Jamini Prakash Gangooly, (Indian, 1876 - 1953), an oil on canvas painting depicting a forest landscape. Signed lower right: 'J.P. Gangooly.' Note: Jamini Prakash Gangooly was an Indian landscape artist who was part of the extended Tagore family. He received training under British painter Charles Palmer, which resulted in a combination of Bengal imagery with European naturalism in Gangooly's work. Provenance: according to the late collector and owner's son, the artwork is a part of the owner's late father's inheritance (Mirza Sami Baig Born, born: July 1, 1949, Hyd, India, passed away in India in 2013), which includes over 2500 artworks from India. The artworks were purchased directly from the artist in India, while Mirza Sami Baig Born made multiple trips to visit the country. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
