AN ENGRAVED FRENCH COURT SWORD WITH DECORATED HILT, 19TH CENTURY - A French court sword of characteristic shape, with a slender, triangular blade, engraved with foliate and militaristic designs along the first quarter of the blade, as well as the initials 'SHT'. The clamshell hilt is decorated with mythological motifs, including the bust of Minerva to the hilt, as well as a Greco-Roman warrior seated amongst symbols of war embossed on the clamshell guard.
