A SCARCE ENGLISH EARLY 18TH C. STONEBOW / CROSSBOW - An attractive 18th Century English Sporting Prodd/Ballester Stonebow (Crossbow), crafted with a finely carved and decorated wooden stock as well as various inset chased metal component. The side of the left side of the stock is carved with the initials 'F G', whilst the top center of the bow itself is stamped with a maker's mark showing a circle with four protruding lines. The mechanism of the bow appears to function well and includes some interesting features, such as a folding rear sight and two sculpted posts as a front sight. England, 18th century.
